Paradise – Bible Series

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

God has a plan and a purpose for your life. He made us in His own image, therefore we hold a special place in all of creation. It is God who gives us special gifts to fulfill that purpose.

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Genesis 2:15-17)

God gave Adam a purpose, responsibility for the garden and told him not to eat from the tree off the knowledge of good and evil. God gave Adam a choice, and thus the possibility of choosing wrongly. Without a choice, Adam would have been like a prisoner, and his obedience would have been hollow.

Disguised as a crafty serpent, Satan came to tempt Eve. “The serpent said to the woman, did God really say, you must not eat from any tree in the garden? You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.”  (Genesis 3:1, 4)

Satan lied to Eve by getting her to doubt God’s goodness. He implied that God was strict, stingy, and selfish for not wanting Eve to share his knowledge of good and evil. Satan made Eve focus on the one thing she couldn’t have.

Sadly, Adam and Eve chose to disobey God separating us from a relationship with God. Jesus came to restore that relationship through his death and resurrection. Put your trust in Him!

With God you are something valuable and unique, apart from God you are nothing, and if you try to live without him, you will be abandoning the purpose for which you were made.
